On February 12, President Trump released his Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 Budget Request, laying out a $4.1 trillion federal spending proposal for FY 2019 and an annual budget for the rest of the next decade.
NACo has released a comprehensive analysis of the president’s FY 2019 Budget Request and its potential impact on programs important to the nation’s counties. Included in this analysis is a chart of key federal programs important to county governments the budget proposes to eliminate or cut, as well as key programs that would receive level or increased funding.
The budget process now moves to Capitol Hill, where lawmakers have already agreed to and passed spending caps for FY 2019. Congressional appropriators are working on a final spending package for FY 2018 (expected to be completed in March), and will then turn to FY 2019 appropriations.
NACo will continue working with Congress and the administration to advocate for key county priorities in the annual appropriations process.
