On July 15, the National Association of Counties (NACo) adopted 125 policy resolutions at NACo’s 2019 Annual Conference in Clark County, Nev. These policy resolutions will supplement exiting NACo policy and guide the organization’s advocacy during the 2019-2020 term.

The NACo resolutions process provides members with the ability to participate in national policy decisions affecting county governments. During the Annual Conference, NACo’s ten policy steering committees, Board of Directors and the general membership considered policy resolutions and changes to American County Platform. The policy resolutions adopted at the 2019 Annual Conference are valid for one year until NACo’s 2020 Annual Conference, at which point all policy resolutions expire and must be renewed. NACo’s 2020 Annual Conference will be held July 17-20,2020 in Orange County/Orlando, Fla.

The American County Platform and the association's policy resolutions are carefully considered statements of the needs and interests of county governments throughout the nation. These federal policy statements serve as a guide for NACo members and staff to advance the association’s policy agenda before Congress, the White House and federal agencies.

NACo members are encouraged to get involved by joining one of NACo’s policy steering committees. For more information about getting involved, please click here or contact Brett Mattson at For a comprehensive overview of NACo’s policy process, click here.
