Local food solving local problems – Tangelo's Thanksgiving benefit
Download PDF
Thanksgiving is more than a meal – for most, it’s a reminder to be thankful for the many blessings in life. But for many others, it can be a painful reminder of the seemingly inescapable cycle of poverty. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, more than 34 million people – including 9 million children – are food insecure. While Tangelo aims to help counties address food insecurity year-round, we have created a one-time Thanksgiving food benefit for local governments to help provide resource-limited households with locally sourced healthy foods.
Tangelo is working to ensure food security during the upcoming holiday season with their targeted thanksgiving benefit for local governments. Our team of registered dietitians and national network of small/underserved/minority-owned farmers and producers are curating food boxes and recipes for the Thanksgiving holiday. These boxes will be delivered – at no cost – directly to each household to ensure everyone has enough food on the table this Thanksgiving!
There are two Thanksgiving food box options – simply multiply the number of households you would like to serve by the price of the desired food box option and that’s it! There are no program commitments or hidden fees – the price of the box is the total cost to the county.
In addition to the Thanksgiving food box, households would also receive six months of Tangelo’s nutrition incentive to be used on our SNAP-approved online marketplace. This extra 20 percent in purchasing power helps households spread their resources and dollars further (i.e. if a household spends $100 on our SNAP marketplace they would receive $120 worth of food)!
Please see the attached flyer or contact Arthur Scott, Vice President of Public and Private Affairs at Arthur.Scott@JoinTangelo.com for more information.
