Healthy Counties Initiative Sponsor Spotlight: Masimo

Masimo is a global medical technology company that develops and produces a wide array of industry-leading healthcare technologies, including innovative measurements, sensors, patient monitors, and consumer solutions. Our mission is to improve patient outcomes, reduce the cost of care and take noninvasive monitoring to new sites and applications.

Whether it is a county health department specialist helping someone with an opioid use disorder, or a county firefighter responding to a health emergency at the scene of an accident, we are very proud to work with counties across the United States to support the delivery of healthcare services and treatment.

For the past 33 years, Masimo’s products have been used by hospitals, emergency medical service (EMS) providers, home care providers, long-term care facilities, physician offices, veterinarians and consumers. Our technology is used to care for approximately 200 million patients around the world each year and has been chosen as the primary pulse oximeter technology used by nine of the top ten hospitals according to the most recent U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals Honor Roll.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our breakthrough technology has allowed patients to be continuously and accurately monitored from the comfort and safety of their homes. Powered by the Masimo Hospital Automation™ platform, our telehealth solutions continue to improve and automate care delivery both in the hospital and the home.

Our Bridge™ opioid symptom withdrawal therapy is being used by counties as part of comprehensive and innovative programs to help people begin the recovery process and successfully transition to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) or taper off MAT. This is the first FDA-approved, drug-free, and non-surgical device that rapidly reduces often debilitating withdrawal symptoms, a major barrier for those seeking treatment.

With the number of fatal overdoses in the United States topping 100,000 last year, counties continue to be at the frontlines of the opioid crisis. As your trusted partner across the broad spectrum of healthcare, Masimo is developing solutions to help detect and prevent overdoses using the latest breakthrough technologies. The FDA selected Masimo as one of eight companies, out of 250 applicants, to play a leading role in addressing this public health emergency as part of its “Innovation Challenge: Devices to Prevent and Treat Opioid Use Disorder.”
