APPLICATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED
In support of Stepping Up, NACo, the Council of State Governments Justice Center and the American Psychiatric Association Foundation are hosting a National Summit on Reducing the Prevalence of Individuals with Mental Illnesses in Jails (National Summit).
The application for the National Summit is now open. To apply, please click here and complete the online form in its entirety. Applications are due on January 15, 2016 by 11:59pm EST. This is a competitive application process and counties will be selected based on an application review by staff from the National Association of Counties, the Council of State Governments Justice Center, and the American Psychiatric Association Foundation. County teams will be notified via email in February, 2016.
Stepping Up will provide travel stipends for up to five team members from each selected county to participate in the Summit due to the generous support of the American Psychiatric Association Foundation. Stipends include hotel, roundtrip airfare, ground transportation to and from the hotel, and meals in accordance with The Council of State Governments Justice Center and federal government travel policy.
Join your county peers!
- LEARN: Join counties from across the country to share strategies that have reduced the number of people with mental illnesses in jails.
- ENGAGE: Network with peers and national experts representing behavioral health, families and advocates, law enforcement, courts and state and local governments to explore opportunities and lessons learned.
- PLAN: Your team will work with national experts and other county leaders to advance your county plan and incorporate new information.
