Shannon Houston-Smack

Accounting Manager

As NACo's Accounting Manager, Shannon Houston-Smack is the liaison to the audit committee and coordinates the annual internal and independent audits. Her responsibilities for the past 20 years include directing the quality of the organization’s accounting functions, the development and maintenance of a comprehensive set of internal controls and procedures to mitigate risk, enhancing the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Prior to coming to NACo, Shannon served as Controller for the North American Telecommunications Association (NATA). She was employed by NATA for 15 years, working in the finance department for more than 10 years.
