More than 300 counties have passed resolutions to join the national Stepping Up Initiative to reduce the number of people with mental illnesses in their jails. These and many other counties across the country are looking for innovative ways to fund their efforts. Some counties are leveraging state and local justice reinvestment initiatives to bring much-needed dollars into their county to start or enhance programs and policies to impact this population. In this workshop, hear from peers who have been able to make justice reinvestment work for their county’s efforts to reduce mental illness in their jails.
