Reports & Toolkits
County governments increasingly provide housing assistance benefits to employees as a strategy to recruit and retain talented workers. These workers struggle to keep pace with the cost of housing and often chose to live in a less expensive county. In addition, many eventually choose to work for a different employer that operates in an area that is more affordable. Benefits can include access to affordable housing units that are restricted for employee occupancy. Employees in some jurisdictions are eligible to apply for down payment assistance that allows them to purchase a home in the county where they are employed.
