● Matt Chase, NACo executive director  and Jim Campbell, executive director, Virginia Association of Counties, met with Va. Gov. Bob McDonnell’s staff to discuss expanding opportunities to more effectively partner with governors on reducing federal unfunded mandates and preemptions in Richmond, Va. Oct. 12. McDonnell chairs the Republican Governors Association.

NACo Staff

Alyssum Pohl has joined NACo for the next two years as part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) coastal fellow program. She will be working on GIS capacity building for coastal counties supporting NACo’s GIS Committee and supporting the Digital Coast Project.

Pohl is from Kentucky but most recently from Monterey, Calif. where she earned her Master’s in international environmental policy from the Monterey Institute of International Studies.

James Davenport, program director, spoke on a workshop panel on Rural Road Traffic Safety during the North Dakota Association of Counties Annual Conference in Burleigh County Oct. 8.​
