Agreement Reached over Water Resources Bill

On May 8, leadership for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Senate Environment and Public Works Committee announced that they had reached final agreement on the Waters Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) conference report.

In a joint statement Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif) and David Vitter (R-La.), and Reps. Bill Shuster (R-Pa.) and Nick Rahall II, (D-W.Va.) stated that the "conference report maintains ports and navigation routes for commerce and the movement of goods, provides flood control that protects lives and property, and restores vital ecosystems to preserve our natural heritage.”

Next week the necessary paperwork will be finalized and will allow the conference report to go back to both the House and Senate for final passage. Additional details on the final agreement will not be available until the conference report is filed. NACo will continue to follow the progress of the conference report and provide further details when they become available.
