ACTION ALERT: Signatures Urgently Needed for House and Municipal Bond Letter

On June 26, the letter to House leadership in support of the tax exemption for municipal bond interest currently being circulated by Reps. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Md.) and Randy Hultgren (R-Ill.) will be closed for signatures. As of June 18, only 56 Representatives have signed on to the letter. Click here to see if your Representative has signed on.

The bipartisan letter, which will be sent to Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), urges them to support municipal bonds and to oppose proposals that would cap or eliminate the tax exemption for municipal bond interest. NACo has been working closely with congressional staff to move this effort forward.

Counties are asked to urge their Representatives to sign on to the letter to House leadership. To view a copy of the letter, along with an attached “Dear Colleague” that invites Representatives to sign on to the letter, click here.

If your Representatives would like to sign on, have their staff contact Walter Gonzales in Rep. Ruppersberger’s office (walter.gonzales@mail.house.gov or 202.225.3061) or Scott Luginbill in Rep. Hultgren’s office (scott.luginbill@mail.house.gov or 202.225.2976).
