Legislation and Policy

Legislation and policy is the heart of NACo's role in Washington, D.C. As the Voice of America's Counties, NACo is responsible for representing counties in Congress and with the federal executive agencies. NACo's legislative staff assist their respective NACo Steering Committees in developing national legislative policies and ensure that policy is communicated to Members of Congress, the Administration and related agencies.

In this section you will find information about NACo's policy positions, you can review the work of the 11 policy steering committees and, most importantly, TAKE ACTION on issues of importance to county government.  Our Legislative Bulletins are an important source of information about the activities of Congress and the federal executive agencies.
