Legislation and Policy

Legislation and policy is the heart of NACo's role in Washington, D.C. As the Voice of America's Counties, NACo is responsible for representing counties in Congress and with the federal executive agencies. NACo's legislative staff assist their respective NACo Steering Committees in developing national legislative policies and ensure that policy is communicated to Members of Congress, the Administration and related agencies.
