Program Sunset Update
For the past 20 years, NACo has operated the Live Healthy prescription discount program for county residents in partnership with CVS. Given the steady decline in program utilization among residents and market changes, the Live Healthy program will sunset at the end of 2026.
What this means for your residents
November 13, 2026:
- Digital card access will be discontinued
- Final date for counties to order physical materials
December 31, 2026:
- Last date physical discount cards can be used at a pharmacy.

For more than 20 years, the National Association of Counties (NACo) Live Healthy Prescription Discount Card Program has helped residents save money on prescription medications. Offered at no cost to participating counties and their residents, the program provides a prescription discount card that residents can use at participating pharmacies to access savings on eligible medications.
As the program concludes on December 31, 2026, NACo is proud of its longstanding impact and the role counties have played in helping residents access more affordable prescriptions.
Please note: The sunsetting of Live Healthy does not impact other NACo programs, including the NACo EDGE Public Promise Insurance PBM program.

📢 Important update for residents: the NACo Live Healthy Prescription Discount Program is coming to an end on December 31, 2026.
📅 Key dates:
➡️ November 13, 2026: Digital prescription discount cards will no longer be available.
➡️ December 31, 2026: Last day to use physical prescription discount cards.
If you use a Live Healthy card, start your planning now so your prescriptions aren’t interrupted. Talk with your pharmacist or provider about your options before the deadline.

As the Live Healthy Prescription Discount Card Program concludes on December 31, 2026, NACo is finalizing per-claim fee reconciliation and payments.
Endorsing counties that are eligible to receive per-claim payments will receive their final payment for Q4 2026 in January 2027.
No additional per-claim payments will be issued after the final reconciliation and payment process is complete.
