Join the National Association of Counties and your peers for a one-and-a-half-day peer exchange on county justice issues, hosted in Pennington County, S.D. This event will bring together county leaders and experts from across the country to visit Pennington County and learn about its efforts to safely reduce the jail population, implement a young adult diversion program and enhance alternatives to detention for individuals with behavioral health needs, as well as how the county is making these changes against the backdrop of a recently enacted state law aimed at reducing the number of inmates in state prisons. Participants will also engage in discussions about how to implement change in their own jurisdictions.
Registration is on a first-come, first served basis. No more than two individuals from the same county may attend, and priority will go to elected officials. NACo will reimburse attendees for airfare or other travel costs (if airfare is more than $650, prior authorization is required – please contact Kathy Rowings at email@example.com) and will cover up to two nights at the meeting hotel.
