Lucas County Deputy County Administrator Lucas County Commissioners Normal Hours of Work 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM; Monday - Friday Salary Range: $91,279 - $114,098 Status: Unclassified, FLSA - Exempt
Summary of Responsibilities: Under general direction from the County Administrator assist in the administration, enforcement, and execution of the policies and resolutions of the Board of County Commissioners and ensure project deliverables meet quality assurance expectations. Assist the County Administrator with the supervision and direction of the activities of the affairs of the divisions of county government under the control or jurisdiction of the board; supervise department heads in the performance of their job duties; assist the County Administrator in the performance of his/her job duties. Manages/coordinates assigned projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, to include collaboration with stakeholders in areas of project time management, project cost/procurement management, and project quality control, by serving as the main point of contact for the County. Assists in determining & allocating resources and assists in budget planning & procurement, including but not limited to grant management; tracks project expenditures against budgeted figures and identifies potential shortfalls. Interprets federal and state laws & regulations affecting assigned project(s) and ensures compliance; drafts policies and procedures as needed to implement project(s). Assists in developing & monitoring the County’s annual capital improvement plan.
Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science or a closely related field of study and three (3) years of full-time, professional level experience in public administration OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science or a closely related field of study and five (5) years of full-time, professional level experience in public administration. At least three (3) years’ of supervisory experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, government structure and process, public administration, management, employee relations, office practices and procedures, and budgeting; Knowledge of Ohio’s Public Records Law; Ability and skill to plan, conduct and analyze administrative, operational and organizational studies; Ability and skill to research, compile and summarize varied information, evaluate alternatives and reach sound conclusions; Ability to interpret, explain & apply complex policies, regulations and procedures; Ability to direct the work of others, write technical reports and procedures, communicate effectively through speech and writing, develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, associates, personnel, elected officials and the general public; Ability to exercise sound independent judgment within established policies and guidelines; Skilled in responding to requests from all forms of media
