NACo’s video honoring the men and women who responded to the events of September 11 was honored recently at an international film and video festival.

The Never Forget video, featuring first responders from New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania, received the Finalist Award in the non-broadcast competition at the 2002 New York International Film and Video Festival.

“This is a great honor to receive recognition from the New York Film and Video Festival,” NACo Executive Larry E. Naake said. “The video was done as a tribute to our first responders — those who put their lives on the line and those who worked in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks. This is one more tribute to these brave men and women.”

The festival, which honors works in the broadcast and non-broadcast fields, received about 16,000 entries. Five awards are given in four categories including the “government” category, for which Never Forget was honored.

Sharon Anderson, the video’s producer said that it was an honor for the video just to be accepted into the film festival.

“When I was notified, I was really quiet because I remembered those first responders and their quiet nobility … I felt a great responsibility and I wanted to do right by them,” Anderson said. “I’m glad to have been a witness to what they had to say.”
