Through a joint effort with The American Water Works Association (AWWA) and The American Public Health Association (APHA), The Water Environment Federation (WEF) released the 20th edition of Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, which serves as a guide for the testing of water and wastewater.
The guide has served as the industry guide for water quality testing of a wide variety of contaminants, including arsenic, biochemical oxygen demand and organic compounds. The guide provides more than 350 separate methods of water quality measurements used by water and wastewater industry scientists, analysts and engineers nationwide.
The publication can be ordered online from the AWWA, APHA and WEF bookstores at www.awwa.org, www.apha.org/media or www.wef.org or via telephone at (800) 926-7337 (AWWA), (301) 893-1894 (APHA), or (800) 666-0206 (WEF).
Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. released two new reports detailing the cost of the welfare-to-work grants program and implementation progress. Understanding the Costs of the DOL Welfare-to-Work Program and The Implementation of the Welfare-to-Work Grants Program provide the latest update on the operations of welfare-to-work initiatives funded by the U.S. Department of Labor. The first report highlights information useful for the budgeting process for state and local administrators who are deciding how to engage hard-to-employ individuals in their post-TANF work programs.
The latest implementation report describes service delivery in 11 sites, noting that most sites offered multiple programs and had complex organizational structures, with varying degrees of coordination with TANF agencies.
The reports are available on Mathematicas Web site at: www.mathematica-mpr.com/pdfs redirect.asp?strSite=understandingcosts.pdf. and www.mathematica-mpr.com/pdfs/redirect.asp?strSite=impgrants.pdf.
