House extends Internet
tax moratorium 5 years

The House of Representatives last week approved a five-year extension of the moratorium an Internet access taxes. The bill also repeals current Internet access taxes in 10 states.
The legislation (H.R. 3709) was rushed to the floor only six days after committee approval. The Judiciary Committee marked up the bill after one days notice without any prior committee hearings. The congressional leadership promised Silicon Valley companies early action on several e-commerce bills.
