NACo, NACRC announce new appointments
to election standards and reform commission


NACo President Jane Hague and the National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials and Clerks (NACRC) President Ernie Hawkins have announced additional appointments to the National Commission on Election Standards and Reform.

New appointees include: Clifford Collins, deputy field director, NAACP National Voter Fund; Janice Cosco, Marion County, W.Va. clerk and recorder; R. Doug Lewis, executive director, The Election Center; Robert Montjoy, Auburn University; Steve Szalay, executive director, California State Association of Counties; Mary Rose Wilcox, president, National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO); and Tom Wilkey, executive director, New York State Board of Elections.

The commission’s first meeting is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2001, in Washington, D.C. It is part of a four-pronged effort by NACo and NACRC to bolster voter confidence in the nation’s election system.
