The time has come for your countys Civic Education and Public Information program to be nationally recognized as an outstanding Act of Caring. With the enormous success of last years Acts of Caring awards, NACo is looking forward to its second ceremony in April 2001. Any successful volunteer program focused on Civic Education and Public Information is eligible for an Acts of Caring award. The Acts of Caring awards honor exemplary volunteer programs focused on Civic Education and Public Information and ten other categories: Arts and Culture, Criminal Justice, Elderly Services, Emergency Management, Environment, Health Services, Libraries, Parks and Recreation, Programs for Children and Youth, and Social Services. Joan Brown, coordinator of the Civic Center Volunteers and winner of last years award said, We are extremely grateful to have our program get national recognition. The ceremony lends tremendous credibility to programs at a local level. Apply now! The deadline for entry is December 29, 2000. The Acts of Caring awards, part of NACos Counties Serve America project, is designed to bring recognition to counties and their volunteer programs in service to local communities.
