Professional forester and tree farmer.

Master’s in forestry, Oregon State University; B.S. in Forestry, Northern Arizona University.

The hardest thing I’ve ever done:
Advocate for Western counties and communities at President Clinton’s 1993 Forest Conference concerning “Northern Spotted Owl” impacts.

Three people I’d invite to dinner:
Nelson Mandela, Jordan’s Queen Noor, and Gifford Pinchot, first Chief of U. S. Forest Service.

A dream I have is to: Do volunteer work projects in Central and South America after “retirement.”

You’d be surprised to learn that I:
Tour the Western states and Canada on my Goldwing motorcycle.

The most adventurous thing I’ve done is:
Sample Japanese culture for two months by staying in Japanese homes and Inns on Shikoku Island in 1974.

My favorite sport is: Piloting private aircraft cross-country and into wilderness landing strips.

I’m most proud of: The values, goals and accomplishments of my four children and four grandchildren.

Every morning I read: The Oregonian

My favorite meal is:
Baby back ribs, baked potato and fresh green salad with a good Merlot.

My pet peeve is:
People denying responsibility for their own bad choices.

My motto is: Focus on the present and future; don’t dwell on the past.

The last book I read was: Point of Origin by Patricia Cornwell.

My favorite movie is: “The Hunt For Red October.”

My favorite music is: All but hip-hop and heavy metal; classic country and Mozart best.

My favorite president is: Anwar Sadat.
