- The American Bar Associations (ABA) section of dispute resolution will hold its second annual conference from April 68, 2000 in San Francisco. ABA is now accepting ideas for innovative, relevant and dynamic presentations from state and local bar and ADR groups and individuals. The conference combines plenaries and nearly 55 concurrent sessions organized loosely into tracks.

- A new manual from the Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Branch of the EPA titled Techniques for Tracking, Evaluating, and Reporting the Implementation of Nonpoint Source Control Measures, is intended to help governmental officials to design a program to track the installation, operation and maintenance of best management practices (BMP). Its chapters contain information on methods to inventory BMP implementation, sampling design and variable selection, methods for evaluating data, conducting the evaluation and presentation of results.

- The American Correctional Association (ACA) has two new resources available. Planning and design Guide for Secure Adult and Juvenile Facilities, (#656-F1; $55.95 for members, $69.95 for nonmembers) provides information for architects, planners and administrators on the construction and financing of architecturally sound inmate housing.
A View from the Trenches: A Manual for Wardens by Wardens (#407-F2; $27.50, no discount) is divided into seven diverse sections which include articles written by individuals who either served as or currently are a warden or superintendent. Article topics include custody vs. treatment, sexual misconduct of staff, implementing adverse legislation and promoting a positive and healthy work environment.

- A new video titled Security and Treatment: Teamwork=Success, produced by the American Correctional Association (ACA), underscores the importance of security and treatment staff to effectively communicate, solve problems and practice techniques demonstrated on the video to help handle problems that surface daily. - The Bureau for At-Risk Youth recently produced a new video series. Saving Our Schools From Hate and Violence was created in response to recent school shootings across the nation. The series includes two 30-minute programs designed for middle and high school-age youth.
