- Javier Gonzales, NACo first vice president, addressed delegates at the Association of County Commissioners of Alabama annual conference in Point Clear, Ala. Sept. 79.
- NACo President C. Vernon Gray spoke about the importance of increased funding for housing and community development at a Department of Housing and Urban Development event sponsored by HUD Secretary Andrew Cuomo on Aug. 26.
- Gray and Betty Lou Ward, immediate past president, represented NACo at the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners Annual Conference in Asheville, N.C., Aug. 1922.
- Gray addressed county officials in his home state, when he spoke before delegates at the Maryland Association of Counties Annual Summer Conference held in Ocean City, Md. Aug. 18-21.
- Gonzales represented NACo at the Texas Association of Counties post-legislative conference. Gonzales addressed delegates on Aug. 18 in Austin. Kaye Braaten, county services representative, also represented NACo at the conference, where she discussed the benefits of NACo membership.
- On Aug. 18, Gray addressed delegates at the annual conference of the Association of Arkansas Counties in Hot Springs, Ark.
- Gray also traveled to Hilton Head, S.C., where he addressed officials at the South Carolina Association of Counties Annual Conference. Tom Goodman, director of public affairs, attended the conference, where he discussed the benefits of NACo membership.

- Tony Hayes, research assistant, gave a presentation about the Local Government Environmental Assistance Network and NACos Environmental Purchasing Project to delegates at the Michigan Association of Counties Annual Summer Conference, Aug. 2224 on Mackinac Island, Mich.
- On Aug. 13, Braaten represented NACo at the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvanias meeting in Lancaster, Pa. She displayed the new NACo/FSC booth and discussed the benefits of NACo membership.
- Neil Bomberg, associate legislative director, was a presenter at a congressional forum sponsored by Sen. Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii) on his welfare-to-work reform legislation on Aug. 2. The legislation, which NACo supports, is designed to expand eligibility for welfare-to-work services to a larger group of welfare recipients.
- Michael Shean, information technology project specialist, represented NACo at the ESRI Annual Users Conference in San Diego, Calif. on July 28. Shean gave a presentation to show attendees how NACo has developed working relationships to give counties access to federal GIS data.
