COUNTY COORDINATOR – LIVINGSTON COUNTY, ILL. (Population: 40,240):
Compensation: Salary and Benefits are negotiable and are anticipated to be competitive.
Livingston County, seated in Pontiac, is located in central Illinois about 90 miles southwest of Chicago. It covers 1,000 sq. mls. And has 14 incorporated cities and township. About half of the residents live in unincorporated Livingston County. In addition to its choice farm land, the County offers exceptional community features with excellent neighborhoods, reasonable priced housing, fine schools, a solid commercial and industrial base, attractive leisure facilities and activities and a low crime rate. The County government is stable and respected.
The County Coordinator reports to an 8-member County Board. The Board is organized into eleven standing committees. All Board members are elected, by district, to four-year staggered terms. The Chairperson is elected by the Board. The County Coordinator has responsibility to advise and assist the Board and to act as its agent. He or she oversees the development of the budget and coordinates the day-to-day activities under the County Board. This includes serving as liaison between the Board and elected and appointed department heads. Responsibilities include development and administration of various central administrative policies and procedures. The 1999 County budget is about $20M and there are about 358 county employees.
Requirements include demonstrated training and experience needed to successfully perform the job. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or a related field (Masters degree preferred) and sufficient administrative/management experience to clearly demonstrate knowledge, ability and skill in planning and execution of administrative functions, budgeting and control of revenues and expenditures, coordination and leadership of diverse departments and functions, and the ability to provide quality service to a policy-making body. Also requires proven skill in interpersonal relations, including excellent verbal and written communications and the ability to develop sound policies and procedures and win support for them.

COUNTY PLANNER/GRANT WRITER – WASHAKIE COUNTY, WYO.: Creative individual needed to manage County Planning Office. DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF CORRECTIONS AND SECURITY – YAKIMA COUNTY, WASH.: Annual Salary Range: $49,024-$83,460 Plus Excellent Benefits. Yakima County seeks an administrator, sensitive to cultural diversity issues with strong critical thinking skills to work closely with the Director, serve as a confidential bargaining team member, and administer policy and collective bargaining agreements. Will coordinate staff and activities of several divisions of a large minimum to maximum-security correctional center, its relevant correctional programs and will manage the county’s government security services. Requires equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Corrections, Behavioral Science, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Human Development or a related discipline and seven (7) years of broad scope and progressively responsible management experience in professional corrections and law enforcement services. Master’s Degree is preferred. Must fulfill all certification requirements and have completed advanced training in corrections and law enforcement operations, supervision, management and administration.
