House gives big boost to airport improvement funding
New legislation would hike payments in
first year from $1.9 billion to $4 billion

Counties won a major victory last week when the House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved legislation, by a 316-110 vote, to increase investments in the nation’s airports and aviation systems. The Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century (AIR 21), H.R. 1000, is a five-year bill to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration and the Airport Improvement Program.
