NACo asks computer users to evaluate its Web site
To improve its Web site, NACo is inviting visitors to fill out a survey located on the homepage at www.naco.org. After evaluating the site, users will get a chance to win T-shirts, coffee mugs, mouse pads and baseball caps.

Vanderburgh County, Ind. offers ordinances, more on its site
County ordinances, minutes from commissioner meetings and property tax information is available online in Vanderburgh County, Ind., courtesy of the Vanderburgh County (Ind.) Auditor’s Office, at www.evansville.net/~vcaudit.
The Web site was designed and created in-house by staffmembers.

Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office goes online
Are you eligible for crime victim compensation or restitution? Where do you get help enforcing or modifying child support payments? What do you need to get a restraining order? The answers to these questions and other information about services offered by the Clackamas County (Ore.) District Attorney’s Office can be found at the district attorney’s new Web
Site, www.co.clackamas.or.us/da.
"This is part of our continuing effort to improve communication with the public, and keep them informed about our services," says District Attorney Terry Gustafson.
Individuals will be able to directly access the victim assistance and family support units as well as the main office via e-mail from the site.
The Web page also offers an overview of the office’s annual caseload and
describes the duties of various prosecution units.

Community development agencies have new Web address
The Council of State Community Development Agencies has a new Web site address – www.coscda.org.
The homepage provides information on national and state housing, community development, economic development and infrastructure issues to the public, the media and agency members.

Broward County, Fla. posts bidding info on the Internet
The Broward County, Fla. Purchasing Division recently began publishing the full text of all bids, requests for letters of interest and requests for proposals on the county Web site. You can see it at www.co.broward.fl.us/purchasing/bids.
In a further move toward automating the bid process, the division recently posted its first Internet-only solicitation on the Web site, for a new county contract on microcomputers, notebooks, servers and accessories. The county notes that posting bid information online led to savings in printing, mailing and handling costs.

Orphan cats and dogs make debut on county Web site
Puppies, kittens, cats and dogs looking for homes are on candid camera, live, courtesy of Broward County, Fla. They’re featured as part of the county Animal Care and Regulation Division on the county Web site, at http://www.co.broward.fl.us/animal.htm. Just click on "Live PetCam."

Model Youth Initiatives Web site created
The National Civic League has created the Model Youth Initiatives Web page, where at least 30 programs designed to improve the lives of children and youth were honored last year as All-America City Award winners and finalists. Counties interested in learning about these programs can access them at http://www.ncl.org/ncl/yi_intro.htm.

Allegheny County advertises its fair on the Web
You’ve heard of winning blue ribbons at county fairs for apple pies and prize pigs. But how about for the Web site that advertises the fair?
The Allegheny County Fair & Exposition Web Site won a first place "blue ribbon" in the Web Site Communication Competition at the 87th annual Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs Convention.
The Web site for the Labor Day weekend fair comes complete with entry forms, competition and show guidelines, and a schedule of events and welcome messages from county officials. For a gander, go to http://trfn.clpgh.org/alcofair.
