Years as a NACo member: 19.

Years in public office (list offices held): 1980, elected Racine County Board supervisor; 1990, elected Racine County Board chair; 1995, elected Racine County executive.

Occupation: Racine County executive. Formerly in partnership with husband, Phil, in a residential construction company. Phil is now retired. He’s my greatest supporter.

Education: Attended Holy Redeemer College, communications major. I’m presently working toward a certificate in Public Administration at the University of Wisconsin.

The hardest thing I've ever done: Give a eulogy at the funeral of a special friend.

Three people (living or dead) I'd invite to dinner: Benjamin Franklin, Bill Gates and Elizabeth Dole.

A dream I have is to: Retire from public service with many years of good health ahead of me. I also want to maintain a good sense of humor over our governmental process.

You'd be surprised to learn that I: Was a foreign exchange student to Germany during high school.

The most adventurous thing I've ever done is: Hike the "narrow" rim of Diamond Head in Honolulu.

My favorite sport is: Football, now that I understand the game better. "GO Green Bay Packers." Personally, my favorite sports are walking and weeding my large flower gardens.

I'm most proud of: Our daughter, Jennifer, a City of Racine police officer. She arrests criminals and brings them to the county jail. We have lots to talk about.

Every morning I read: : Each local newspaper, especially the editorial pages.

My favorite meal is: I’ve never seen a chocolate chip cookie I didn’t want to eat. The chewier the better.

My pet peeve is: An elected official who does no research, doesn’t attend information meetings, but is always there to talk to the press or play to an audience.

My motto is: The world is run by those who show up.

The last book I read was: You Won - Now What? : How Americans Can Make Democracy Work from City Hall to the White House by Taegan D. Goddard and Christopher Riback. I recommend it.

My favorite movie is: "Titanic."

My favorite music is: Upbeat music with rhythm, swing and rock 'n' roll, especially the Beatles.

My favorite president is: Gerald Ford – a gentleman.
