  • Betty Lou Ward, NACo president; C. Vernon Gray, president-elect; Javier Gonzales, second vice president; Randy Johnson, immediate past president; Larry Naake, executive director; Tom Goodman public affairs director; and Shawn Bullard media relations coordinator, met with editorial writers and reporters from Governing Magazine, USA TODAY and The Washington Post on March 1–2, to discuss NACo's legislative initiatives for 1999.

  • Ed Rosado, legislative director, and Andrew Goldschmidt, membership coordinator, represented NACo at the Kansas Association of Counties Senatorial and Congressional Delegation breakfast on March 2 as part of NACo’s 1999 Legislative Conference. They discussed Rural Action Caucus issues.

  • NACo also welcomed three new legislative assistants recently. Eric J. Ciliberti comes to NACo via former Rep. Harris Fawell’s (R-Ill.) Congressional office, where he was also a legislative assistant.

  • Marshall D. Edwards also comes to NACo with Congressional experience. Edwards was a caseworker in the office of Eleanor Holmes Norton, (D-D.C.)

  • Andrea Fisher comes to NACo from the U.S. Senate, where she was a legislative aide to Sen. Mike DeWine (R-Ohio).
