COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR - McHENRY COUNTY, ILL.: McHenry County, Illinois, is seeking an experienced public management professional with significant executive level experience in county/city management to serve as CAO of an organization of 1,000 employees, $91 million budget, and 24 departments. Appointed by a 24 member board elected by district on a partisan basis for four-year over-lapping terms, the county administrator interacts day-by-day with the Chairman and provides advice and counsel to liaison committees. Administers day-to-day activities as well as directs all non-elected department heads and staff. Significant broad County management background desired. Ideal candidate will be sensitive to organizational culture and skillful in assisting county officials to adapt to change. The successful candidate will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the County's elected officials, the public, various commissions and boards, department heads, and employees, and the ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Salary is negotiable, dependent upon experience and qualifications. Successful candidate will possess a MPA/MBA from an accredited four-year college or university plus five or more years experience or a combination of education and experience. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and theories of local government management, budget and finance, human resources, legislative processes, federal and local laws is also highly desirable. Experience with a rapidly growing and changing jurisdiction and familiarity with Illinois state statutes is a plus.
