Conference to explore strategies
for success in the global market, May 17

To help counties compete successfully in the international marketplace, NACo will cosponsor, with the National League of Cities, a national globalization conference on May 17-19 in Orange County (Orlando), Fla.

Titled "Achieving World Class Local Economies," the conference will provide local officials with the tools and information necessary to achieve and maintain world class economic competitiveness. The conference has three major objectives:

  • Provide examples of strategies that are working in various localities around the nation,
  • Lend guidance on developing clearer visions and insights on each community's place in the global economy and its implications for businesses, households and public institutions and
  • Teach useful and practical steps that can be applied to communities to create economic opportunities.

As a strong proponent in the push to help local elected leaders understand the impact of globalization on counties, NACo President Randy Johnson will address many of the objectives at the conference. Helping county officials understand globalization is one of Johnson's key presidential initiatives.

Registration is $295. For more information or a registration form, call 202/626-3061.
