
The National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials and Clerks (NACRC) will have a full slate of activities at the 1997 NACo Annual Conference in Baltimore, Md., July 11-15.
On Thursday, July 10, NACRC will hold a member's reception from 6:30-9:30 p.m. for all members in the suite of the NACRC president, Duane Smith. The suite will be in the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel. The hospitality suite will also be open on Friday night July 11, from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
All other NACRC meetings and programs, including the membership luncheon, installation of officers and awards, will be held at the Baltimore Convention Center. Off-site activities will include the special event for NACRC members on Saturday, July 12, 6:30-11 p.m.
On Friday, July 11, NACRC will offer a full day of sessions for land records, elections, courts administration, and records management. Each of the sessions will be worth four certification credits.
Election officials will not want to miss the IFES presentation to be given between 8 a.m.-noon at the Baltimore Convention Center. In addition to the presentations, there will be a review of voter registration and election maintenance software. The first hour of this workshop will be used to share voter registration and elections forms. Please bring 25 copies to share.
The court administration session will focus on the effects of the welfare reform act on a new child support system. In addition, a special emphasis will be placed on the area of Family Courts. (8 a.m.-noon).
The records management session will feature Arlynn Q. Hall, an archivist with Delaware Public Archives, presenting an overview of records management (1:30-5 p.m.).
The recording and land records session will consist of the second part of privacy issues and a look on UCC filings(1:30-5 p.m.)
The NACRC interest group meetings will be held on Saturday, July 12. The court administration meeting will focus on the clerks authority in Georgia (8-9 a.m.)
The records management group will concentrate on current issues facing county records management at their meeting. (9 a.m.-noon) Elections administration will discuss legislation and current election issues. (10 a.m.-noon)
The NACRC Land Records meeting will feature the latest on MERS (10 a.m.-noon)
After lunch, the professional certification and program committees meeting will take place from 1:30-3 p.m.
Following this, the NACRC board and membership meeting session will convene from 3-5 p.m.
A dinner and cruise of Baltimore's Inner Harbor aboard the ClipperCity will be this year's NACRC Special Event. The event will be held from 6:30-11 p.m. Saturday evening, July 12. This event is for NACRC members and spouse/guests only.
On Sunday, July 13, the NACRC Membership Luncheon, Installation of Officers and Awards Ceremony will take place from 11-1 p.m. The NACRC New Board Meeting will be held from 2-4 p.m.
On Monday, July 14, NACo and NACRC will co-sponsor a program on sovereign citizens, militant groups and local government. This program is scheduled to take place between 1-3 p.m.
