(Editor's note: The following letter is from Coradina Tate, 1993 recipient of the NACo Presidential Scholarship Award and senior at Xavier University.)

Dear Mr. Naake:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the National Association of Counties for the opportunity of a lifetime. Your investment has made a substantial change in my life, a profit that will never depreciate. I was provided with the opportunity to attend a four-year university, a dream that I once held close at heart. However, once that dream became reality, nothing could have taken its place. College life has been wonderful, a challenge, and a global learning experience. However, because all things must come to a close, my college years will end soon.

With my college years ending, I will attain a Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Pre-Medicine. This ticket will be used to gain entrance into medical school in August - to take a step closer to my life-long goal of becoming a pediatric surgeon. Just as you have used your skills and sincerity to help others, this ticket is an opportunity for me to gain exceptional skills in combination with my sincerity, to help people on a global scale.

Again, I am very thankful and appreciative of your contribution to my education. Your gift will be used accordingly and with respect.

Sincerely,

Coradina Tate
