The New Year will ring in a new name for the Police Jury Association of
Louisiana. Effective Jan. 1, 1997, the association, headquartered in Baton
Rouge,La., will be known as the Louisiana Parish Government Association.
Members voted to change the name in February of this year. Police Jury Association
President Larry Buller says that while the association cherishes the tradition
of the police jury, "we realize the obligation to evolve with a dynamic
democracy."
The new name and logo will make their debut on the association's website.
