Rural solid waste workshop offered

The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is offering a series of free workshops on municipal solid waste management (MSW) in six locations throughout the country. The one-day workshops will address planning issues in MSW management specifically for rural counties and municipalities. They will be interactive learning events presented by MSW experts and SWANA technical staff.

Each workshop is based on four modules covering: components of an integrated MSW system, regionalization, rural recycling, and landfill design and operations. The sessions are designed to address the specific interests of the attendees and will include case studies of successful local programs.

The SWANA workshops are scheduled for:

Silver City, N. M. – April 26

Anchorage, Alaska – April 27

Oklahoma City, Okla. – May 8

Delaware, Ohio – July 15

Elizabethtown, Ky. – August (specific date to be announced)

Winnemucca, Nev. – August (specific date to be announced)

There is limited attendance for each workshop. For registration information, contact Jim Hickman, SWANA, 301/585-2898.
