• Legislative Director Reggie Todd, Deputy Legislative Director Tom Joseph, Associate Legislative Director Marlina Sanz and Maryland Association of Counties Executive Director David Bliden met with various county representatives, in Annapolis, Md., Feb. 22, to discuss strategy on introducing welfare reform and Medicaid legislation in the Maryland legislature.
• On Feb. 23–24, NACo President Doug Bovin addressed delegates at the Police Jury Association of Louisiana annual conference in Monroe, La. Bovin also attended the United Counties Council of Illinois conference in Springfield, Ill., on Feb. 26–27.
• Larry Naake, NACo executive director, participated in the Western State Training Meeting sponsored by PEBSCO in Las Vegas, Nev. on Feb. 27. Tom Sweet, director of corporate relations, attended the Feb. 21 session in Dallas, Texas.
• At a meeting of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners, earlier this month, Financial Services Center (FSC) Director Steve Swendiman addressed the board concerning FSC products and services.
