Sustainable Business Development

One of the most important challenges facing America's counties is how to promote sustainable economic development that assures fiscal vitality, jobs and a high quality of life for citizens.  While everyone recognizes the need, many county officials do no know exactly how to go about retaining existing local businesses and recruiting new ones that can consistently fuel their local economies.

Through partnerships with builders, developers, retailers (International Council of Shopping Centers), scholars, and entrepreneurs, the Center for Sustainable Communities’ Sustainable Business Development initiative provides local officials with practical strategies they can implement to help secure positive business development in a ways that protect and preserve the characteristics that make their counties unique.
