Sustainability Leadership Team

The primary function of the SLT is to support the NACo president, leadership, and policy making committees to assisting counties in developing long-term policies and programs that will lead to economic enhancement, environmental stewardship and social well-being. Because sustainability encompasses issues ranging from air quality and environmental protection to housing and transportation, the SLT provides guidance and direction on a full range of local government challenges. 

The Sustainability Leadership Team is chaired by New Castle County, Del. Councilman Robert S. Weiner. It is comprised of a diverse group of county leaders, and includes the chairs of NACo’s Rural Action Caucus and Large Urban County Caucus, and NACo’s Executive Committee officers.  Although the SLT is not a policy making body, its strong leadership roster helps to assure that the principles of sustainability are represented in the policymaking process.
