eNotify
Los Angeles County, CA
Population: 8,863,164
Program Year: 2008
Abstract:
The E-mail Notification System (eNotify) is an application which allows the public to receive customized information about upcoming Los Angeles County events, projects, and other topics of interest to them. Subscribers can pick and choose from available Los Angeles County resources to create a completely personalized database of topics and events for which they will be sent e-mail notification. Because Los Angeles County services over ten million people living in 88 incorporated cities, the sheer number of newsletters, events, alerts and projects could create an informational avalanche if not properly filtered. Even if citizens want only information about road closures, they risk information overload. With this in mind, eNotify allows users to filter their requests not only by topic, but also by location. In a county covering over 4,040 square miles, the eNotify system is able to filter results to a radius as small as five miles. Through eNotify, subscribers can attain a level of personalized information previously unimagined in a county of this size.
