Land Information GIS Viewer
Miami Dade County, FL
Population: 1,937,094
Program Year: 2008
Abstract:
If you are a resident of Miami-Dade County interested in making an improvement to your property, the development permitting and approval process can be confusing and time consuming. This in part is due to the fact that the county departments who must issue the permits and approvals must follow a process that can be confusing and time consuming also. For the Water and Sewer Department to issue a development permit, it must first determine if there are any existing permits from the Fire and Rescue Department, or the Public Works Department, or the Department of Planning and Zoning, or from any of several other departments also involved in the land development process. Until the creation of Land Information GIS Viewer, the only way a department could determine if a permit had been issued by another department was to ask. With the GIS Viewer makes it possible for departments involved in the land development process to view and share their GIS data, which includes current and planned development. By integrating the GIS data and providing expanded capabilities for analysis, information about land development and related areas such as permitting and inspections, is readily accessible to the departments involved.
