Master Address Repository System
Miami Dade County, FL
Population: 1,937,094
Program Year: 2008
Abstract:
Addressed are the single most used property locator by Miami-Dade County and its citizens. They are a key element for many of the County’s administrative, public safety, service oriented, land management, and mapping functions. To some of these applications, addresses are critical and have evolved as a primary link between individuals and location. To meet its addressing needs, Miami-Dade County has developed an enterprise Master Address Repository System (MARS). The MARS follows address standards and consists of Geographic Information System data, and applications. Address standards provide a method for documenting the content of an address and help to facilitate data exchange. The GIS data consists of all valid addresses, sub-addresses, street segments, and as a derivative product, intersections. Applications include a multi-user editing environment, batch processes to create derivative products and perform quality control, as well as WEB Services that can be integrated in custom applications and provide valid, standardized addresses that improve business processes.
