Ingress Regional Security Gateway
King County , WA
Population: 1,507,319
Program Year: 2008
Abstract:
Since 2001, King County has been pursuing a comprehensive effort to improve the sharing and management of criminal justice information regionally among various governments and agencies. As various initiatives have been introduced, it has become increasingly important to be able to manage access and users across this complex environment involving over 4,000 users in more than 45 agencies at the local, state and federal levels.
In 2007, King County implemented the Ingress Regional Security Gateway. Ingress is a web based, distributed security gateway portal. It supports and manages both system access and data exchange between every municipal government in King County, multiple county criminal justice agencies, and both state and federal agencies with local criminal justice jurisdiction such as the Washington State Patrol, the FBI, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Ingress is designed to facilitate the addition of an unlimited number of applications, thus enabling the expansion of the portal as a critical tool for the Puget Sound region and beyond.
