Abstract:
Miami-Dade’s 311 Answer Center fundamentally changes during activations of the Emergency Operations Center. During hurricane activations 311 has proven to be particularly critical by providing citizens quick and easy access to event-related information and services. The Center relays those concerns to agency-related representatives in operations so they can make informed decisions. The system also serves to divert calls from 911 emergency systems, enabling 911 to remain available for truly life-threatening situations.
