Abstract:
Just1Call is a comprehensive program that enables an older adult, an adult with diabilities, their families or caregiver to make one contact to obtain accurate, up-to-date information, assessment of need and access to care in Mecklenburg County (Charlotte), North Carolina. To enhance the quality of life, Just1Call is a "one-stop shop" that includes total access assistance, follow-up, advocacy and problem resolution. Though Just1Call is a county government-sponsored program, it was designed by a diverse partnership, led by the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services. Just1Call was designed by a unique consortium of providers and other concerned citizenry, overcoming a great deal of historical difficulty, including "turfism," distrust of local public assistance programs, and competition between public and private, and for-profit and non-profit entities. Just1Call is convenient, free of charge, fully recognizes cultural diversity and effectively links its customers to a wide variety of services, businesses and support organization.
