Chesterfield Spotlight

Chesterfield County, VA
Population: 209,274
Program Year: 1998

Abstract:
"Chesterfield Spotlight" segments are five-minute interview programs that are broadcast on the "CNN Headline News" channel in Chesterfield County, Virginia , to the 60,000 subscribers of COMCAST Cablevision, Inc., the county's franchised cable television provider. Each month, four topics of broad public interest are chosen and a guest who is knowledgeable about that subject is scheduled for each segment. An interview is conducted by the county's director of Public Affairs. These programs are informational and are designed to increase awareness of the scope of services provided by Chesterfield County to its residents. Each program is broadcast approximately 10 times per month, for a total of 40 broadcasts monthly. Programs frequently are related to national or other noteworthy events. For example, an interview with a public health nurse on the subject of cardiovascular fitness was done during February, which is "Heart Month."
