• COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR - CHARLES COUNTY, MD.

Charles County, Md. (growing population of about 123,000), is located on the Southern Maryland Peninsula. It adjoins Prince George’s County on the north and west and St. Mary’s County on the east and covers 502 square miles. La Plata, the county seat, is 71 miles from Baltimore and 32 miles from Washington, D.C. Charles County is one of the fastest growing areas of the United States. Charles County is a Code Home Rule county. This allows the Commission to enact bills of purely local substance rather than having to gain enactment in the state legislature. Charles County is governed by the Board of County Commissioners of Charles County consisting of five commissioners who are elected for a four-year term. The president is elected countywide; the four commission members run countywide but one must reside within each of four commissioner districts. The commission appoints a county administrator to implement its policies and to administer county operations which are under the Board’s purview. These include human resources, clerk to the commission, fiscal services, public facilities, economic development, community services, planning and growth management, utilities, emergency services, tourism, public information, information technology, and human services. The county is in excellent fiscal condition. Its FY05 total budget is $386,179,795 of which $173,080,400 supports county schools. There are approximately 625 employees under the county administrator’s oversight.
Requires a proven local government manager who will provide strong, results oriented, consistent and fair leadership to an established and well-regarded management team. Also requires significant and increasingly responsible broad range governmental management experience; prefer the equivalent of a master’s degree in public or business administration. • DETENTION CENTER ADMINISTRATOR - CURRY COUNTY, N.M.
Salary: $50,000-$60,000, DOQ.
Curry County, (Clovis), N.M. is currently seeking a Detention Center Administrator. This is an at-will position that reports directly to the County Manager. Position requires at least five years of management and human resources experience, and with experience in law enforcement, correctional or detention. Applicants must reside in Curry County or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.
