Transportation and Alternate Fuels

Local government fleets and improved public transportation access can impact green goals from air quality to land use to quality of life and health concerns.  In addition to reducing our dependence on foreign oil and improving the environment, both green fleets and public transportation can offer significant public health and economic benefits. “Green fleets” may be comprised of alternative fuel vehicles and/or hybrid and electric vehicles.  Counties not only have the potential to shape the future of the green vehicle market, but also to make advanced technologies more widely available and affordable for both institutional purchasers and everyday consumers.
