 What's In a Seal?

Washington County, Tenn.

Image

The symbols in the forefront of the Washington County, Tenn., seal stand for education, medicine, agriculture and industry - the factors that make Washington County a thriving and successful county.

Also printed on the seal is "the great seal of Washington County, Tennessee" and "Tennessee’s first county, established 1777,"representing the county’s history.

The seal was established by Washington County’s legislative body and passed unanimously at the April 1996 commission meeting. Since that time, the county has made lapel pins with the seal on them, and printed the seal on official county stationery.
