The Director of the Visitor and Convention Bureau is a senior management position that reports directly to the County Manager. The Director is responsible for planning and promoting the Visitor and Convention Bureau and overseeing the daily operations. The position will also be responsible for coordinating the allocation of funds for tourist tax funded capital projects, community events, and attractions. The county is looking for an established professional with knowledge of coastal tourism issues and with the proven ability to promote Lee County Tourism to national and international markets. The successful candidate will need to possess strong inter-personal skills as this position will act as a liaison to various community organizations as well as local, state, and federal agencies.
Qualifications:
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business (or similar field) and six years of responsible professional experience in economic development, planning, tourism, business administration, public administration or a closely related field, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required. This position also requires a CDME certification in Destination Marketing and Management.
