WATER RECLAMATION MANAGER — CITY OF GREENSBORO, N.C.

Greensboro is a diverse stable council/manager city. The Department of Water Resources is comprised of the Water Reclamation and the Water Supply and Treatment Resources Divisions. The Water Reclamation Manager heads the Water Reclamation Division and manages a state-of-the-art, complex and technology-facilitated two facility system of advanced nitrifying water reclamation plants (16 MGD and 40 MGD facilities). Bio-solids are processed with centrifuges and a fluidized bed incinerator. The Division also operates laboratory services and industrial waste permitting and compliance. The Division currently has approximately 75 full-time employees.
The Manager will be an experienced and knowledgeable professional with outstanding interpersonal and management skills. Critical skills include management and leadership. Must be a proven and innovative leader within the organization and able to build effective working relationships with other City departments, regulatory agencies, the general public and the private sector. Must have an understanding of cutting edge water reclamation and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications include the equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, biology, physics or environmental science supplemented by at least six years of responsible management experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater facilities. Requires a current North Carolina Grade IV Wastewater Operator certification or an equivalent out-of-state certification and a commitment to obtain the required North Carolina certification.
Also qualified are licensed professional engineers with management experience and at least two years direct experience in wastewater operation.
