National Association of Counties
The workshop, Creating Juvenile Detention Alternatives was held at NACo's 2005 Annual Conference in the City and County of Honolulu.
Workshop Description:
Would you like to demonstrate that your county’s juvenile justice system could safely reduce reliance on secure detention? You can with the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative (JDAI). The JDAI model focuses on reducing the number of kids who are inappropriately or unnecessarily confined, expands the number of youth placed in community-based alternatives, and redirecting county dollars into a successful and efficient juvenile justice system. JDAI has been piloted in counties throughout the country with outstanding results. Come learn how you can begin JDAI in your county.
